Ivorian-Korean cooperation is in full swing. The Republic of Korea, through the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), has financed approximately three (3) billion CFA francs to address the drinking water deficit of disadvantaged households. For work to supply and install a distribution network of around 38 km in HDPE, to sectorize the network, the Houphouët Boigny sub-district, known as the Koumassi grand-campement district, hosted the ceremony marking the completion of construction work.
On Tuesday, December 27, 2022, the Minister of Hydraulics, Sanitation and Safety, Mr. Bouaké FOFANA officially handed over 13,541 social connections to the populations of this precarious district of the commune of Koumassi. The handover ceremony took place in the presence of the Country Director of KOICA, Mr. WOO Dong Wan, the Deputy Director General of ONEP, Mrs. Nabintou CISSE and several senior ONEP executives.
Minister Bouaké FOFANA, in his speech, in addition to expressing his heartfelt thanks to the donor, indicated that his department has also been extended to the sanitation and health sector. He therefore drew the attention of Korean donors to the strengthening of cooperation at this level, before saying that water takes sanitation into account and vice versa.
The populations, through the voice of their Chief, Mr. KOFFI Marcellin, did not fail to express their gratitude to the President of the Republic, HE Mr. Alassane OUATTARA, to the Minister Bouaké FOFANA as well as to ONEP for the work done which allows them to have drinking water at home, a factor in reducing women's drudgery.
