On May 11 and 12, 2022, the General Management of ONEP, and the members of the Management Committee exchanged with the World Bank assessment mission at the Palm Club Hotel Sis in Cocody. The meeting allowed the ONEP to present drinking water supply projects in urban areas, as well as multi -villages systems in rural areas, in eleven (11) regions of the northern Côte d'Ivoire. Schools and health centers near drinking water adduction will be taken into account in these projects.
Also, it was an opportunity for the officials of the Office to present certain projects needing funding, in particular, the rehabilitation of water resources mobilization works, such as the thirteen (13) dams used in the northern zone. It is a physical rehabilitation project of the dikes and the restoration of the resource that will require cleaning and dredging work.
This project will improve the storage capacity of the hydraulic heritage of the ONEP. Several other subjects have been discussed with the mission, including the points relating to the transformation of the ONEP into heritage society and the capacity building of the ONEP to carry out its mission.
Questions related to market passes have been the subject of a detailed explanation by the World Bank experts. Indeed, the mission insisted on the award of markets to allow state structures to have a clear vision of the expectations of the World Bank in the context of the implementation of projects.
This is why, the World Bank's project manager explained at the opening of the session, the scope of the migration of the Pforr instrument project at the usual IPF instrument (Investment Project financing). This project management tool appears as an essential fact to carry out the execution of projects. However, the bank appreciated the involvement of the ONEP general management at the work sessions and its commitment to pilot the projects.
Consequently, the ONEP will implement the AEP activities for a branch of 60 billion FCFA according to the budget allocated by the World Bank. For the management of the projects entrusted, the bank requested the implementation of a project management unit (UGP) which will be attached to the general management.
The mission hoped that the discussions will continue during the week of May 16 to 20, 2022, with the technical managers of projects to work on specific points and with the various hierarchies in order to boost decision -making.
